Cottie Johnson Britt

Cottie Johnson (Cot) Britt, 91, of Eagle Rock, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 1, 2011. Cottie enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo, cooking and working puzzles. She has been a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great- great- grandmother, homemaker, friend, neighbor, a lover of music, player of various musical instruments, and helper of the sick in her lifetime. She will be dearly missed especially by her children and all her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edward Britt; her parents, Otho and Alberta "Ma" Johnson; her siblings, Roy Johnson, Ray Johnson, Gardie Kidd, Thurman "Nute" Johnson, Joseph "Joe" Johnson, Nellie Hohnke, Rodney Johnson, and Daisy Peery; and grandson, Thomas Edward Britt. She is survived by her children, Donald (Sara) Britt, Betty (Cleatis) Lester, Gary (Sharon) Britt, Patti Coffey and Bonnie Britt, all of Eagle Rock. Also by two sisters, Flora Ayers, of Buchanan, and Evelyn "Ed" Levitz, of Indiana; four sisters-in-law, Virgie Seay, of Buchanan, Nancy Britt, of Eagle Rock, Ruth "Tootle" Stull, of Selma, and Wilda Britt, of Collinsville, Va.; eight grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including one special niece, Lois Elliott. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14777 Church Street, Eagle Rock. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2011, at the Eagle Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Wessley Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.
