Clark Dolan Barger,

Clark Dolan Barger (C.D.), 92, of Buchanan, VA, died August 8, 2014. He is survived by the love of his life, Virginia Farrier Barger, to whom he was married for 61 years; daughter and son-in-law Lynne B. and James T. Drummond; sisters-in-law Kitty Farrier, Mary Lee Farrier, and Evelyn Farrier Mitchell; cousins Dorothy Barger Carson, Sue Barger Way, and Bonnie Barger Crockett as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. C.D. was a graduate of Buchanan High School and Fork Union Military Academy. He attended Virginia Tech until being drafted by the U.S. Army where he served until the end of World War II. He was a long time active member of the Buchanan Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and as Superintendent of Sunday School. He was a member of the Buchanan Town Council for 22 years and a trustee of the Fairview Cemetery for over 30 years. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the Botetourt Funeral Home Chapel, 14920 Lee Highway (US 11), Buchanan, VA with the Reverend Mike Woody officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan, VA. The family would like to express special thanks to the Alleghany Nursing Staff and to all personnel at the Carrington Place for the compassionate and loving care that C.D. received.
