Chester Linwood Carter

Rev. Chester L. Carter, 82, formally of Buchanan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 22nd, 2014. He was retired from the Virginia State Highway Department and was Pastor of Jennings Creek Gospel Church for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert and Junia Carter, from Blue Ridge; sister-in-law Jane Carter; and brother-in-law, George Dooley. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Carter, of Ashland ; two sons and their wives, Larry and Tina Carter, of Roanoke and Michael and Carmen Carter, of Buchanan; his daughter and her husband, Cindy and Joe Williamson, of Ashland; three grandchildren, Travis Carter, Allison Oyler, and Elizabeth Williamson; his brother and sister-in- law, Joy and Betty Carter, of Hardy; his sister, Nancy Dooley, of Greensboro; and numerous brothers and sisters in Christ. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, on Tuesday March 25, 2014 at the Buchanan Chapel, Botetourt Funeral Home with the Reverends Mike Woody and Eric Moehring officiating. Interment will follow in the Colonial Baptist Church Cemetery, Blue Ridge. The family will receive friends, March 24, 2014, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Botetourt Funeral Home, Buchanan.
