Charles Robert “Bobby” Fridley died peacefully on October 14, 2021 surrounded by his family. A long-time member and officer of his church, his life revolved around faith, family, friends and sports. An accomplished athlete in his own right, he was a diehard UVA sports fan. He rarely missed a home or away UVA Football game and was always accompanied by his loving wife & best friend, Peggy, of 65 years by his side. His core belief of faith and giving back to the community and others in need is a trait that has been passed on to his sons, Mike, Lynn & Perry as well as his grandchildren Wendi, Kiani, Anna, Jack & Sean. A legacy that will live on for many years to come. He is also survived by 3 daughters-in-law, Pam, Lana, & Colleen, a grandson in-law Stuart and two great-grandchildren Camden & Bryce. He would be proud of having his grandchildren serve as pallbearers. Bobby enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing & anything outdoors. His favorite pastimes were sports and anything regarding his children & grandchildren. A perfect weekend for Bobby was watching his grandchildren in anything from football, basketball, soccer, softball, swimming, and a horseshow and then bragging about them to his friends in church on Sunday. Laughter and a long-running joke were a cornerstone of Bobby. The family takes pride in all the people who just chuckled about being a part of an aforementioned joke or tall tale that went on for months and years. Indeed it was a life well lived, filled with family, fun & humor yet he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 18, 2021 in Mill Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Quirin officiating. Interment will follow in the Eagle Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Hwy, Buchanan.
