Carole Jean Proffitt Spangler

Carole Jean Proffitt Spangler "Gigi", 74 of Buchanan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Wilbur and Merle Proffitt; mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Ruth Spangler; sister, Marie Proffitt; brothers, Bill and Claude Proffitt; sisters-in-law, Mary Proffitt and Iris Hill; and brother-in-law, Ricky Spangler. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas "Tommy" Spangler; children, Debra Thompson; Rhonda (Steve) Cox; Greg Spangler; and Daryl Spangler; grandchildren, Charlie and Matt Conner, Kallie (Matt) Blake, Katie Cox (David Watts); and Chase, Brooke, and Josie Spangler; great-granddaughter, Kori Blake; special niece, Edie (Dennis) Wheeler; brothers, Bernard "Pooh" Proffitt, Ken "Snook" (Jean) Proffitt; sisters Barbara Hill and Bonnie Proffitt; sisters-in-law, Beverly Proffitt, Rita (Phillip) Paxton, Tina (Dale) Edwards, Dale (Ernest) Hill; brothers-in-law David and Tony Spangler; numerous nieces and nephews; and so many other friends. A special thanks to hospice nurses, Regina, Tiffany, Dee, Amy, and Lisa for caring so much for her. She retired from Burlington Industries after 37 years and worked part-time at Burger King. A gathering will be held from 5-8pm Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Flowers are welcome or donations made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or Carillion Hospice.
