Carol Ann Owen Kelly, 69, of Fincastle, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of the Mill Creek Community in Botetourt County. Carol was born on June 17, 1948, to the late Kenneth S. (Jimmie) Owen and Wanda Flippo Owen. She was preceded in death by E. Dickey Kelly, her husband of 41 years, in February, 2017. She is survived by daughter, Ann Kelly Elkins and special friend, John Woods; son, Timothy M. Kelly; precious and much-loved grandchildren, Abigail (Abby), Corey, and Skylar (Sky-Bug) Elkins; sisters, Cathy Downs and Debbie Owen; brother, Barry Owen; and many other family members and friends. A graduate of the Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Carol spent her professional career as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years in the Roanoke Valley. She was particularly proud of working at the North Roanoke Dialysis Center for 13 years and the American Red Cross Mobile Blood Unit for 13 years. A lifelong member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, she was active in Sunday School, Baptist Women, and many other church programs and activities. She was particularly supportive of the Alaska and Philadelphia mission projects. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 10, at Botetourt Funeral Home (14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan). A service celebrating Carol's life is scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, January 11, at Mill Creek Baptist Church (11475 Lee Highway, Fincastle). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Carol's memory be made to Mill Creek Cemetery c/o John Caldwell, 1423 Brughs Mill Road, Fincastle, VA 24090 or the Alaska Mission Team c/o Mill Creek Baptist Church.
