Beulah Frances Mason Gilliam, 69, of Buchanan, lost her long battle with cancer and passed away Monday, November 2, 2015. She retired from Glad Rags (Kenrose) as a seamstress after 25 years of service and was a charter member of the Arcadia Baptist Church. Her biggest hobbies were cooking and tending to her plants and flowers, but her greatest joys were her two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dandridge Downey Mason and Hattie Marie Floyd Mason, and infant daughter, Susan Marie Gilliam. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Earl William Gilliam; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Mark Early of Roanoke; grandsons, Mason Early of New York City and Zachary Early of Roanoke; four sisters, Lois Slagle, Bernice (Leo) Wheeler, Alice Dorey, and Thelma (Jimmy) Odgen all of Buena Vista; special niece and family, Becky (Kenny) Walker and their sons, Levi and Matthew; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and special friends, Dolly Kingery, Elizabeth Petty, and Doug and Sharon Helmick. Special thanks to Carilion Clinic Hospice Staff and Missy Walker for their loving care and kindness. Funeral Services will be held 2pm Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Thorne and Chaplain Robyn Angle officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Buchanan Fire Department, Buchanan Rescue Squad, or the American Cancer Society.
