Betty Jean Taylor Welch

Betty Jean Taylor Welch, 80 of Buchanan, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Welch; parents, Leo and Della Taylor; brother, Wesley "Nubbin" Taylor; and sister, Eva Mae "Sallie" Harris. Betty attended Buchanan High School and retired from Buchanan Elementary as a cafeteria aid with over 23 years of service. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Forrest Thrasher of Buchanan; Brenda and Donnie Barger of Goodview; grandson; Ryan Thrasher and girlfriend, Chelsea Dyer; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas E. "John Henry" and Becky Taylor of Buchanan; special niece and nephew, Vicki and Jimmy Eubank; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends; including, Ernie and Sandy Hutchens, Bud and Peggy Fowler, and all her North Star family. A special thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice for their loving care. Funeral Services will be held 11 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Woody and Rev. Marina Gopadze officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation, please consider the American Cancer Society or Amedysis Hospice.
