Betsy Creamer Austin

Betsy Austin, 87, of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018. She is rejoining her beloved husband in heaven, Jake Austin; whom she was married to for 68 years. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents Ruby and Ralph Smith, mother-in-law and father-in-law Sherman and Vernie Austin. Betsy and Jake are survived by their four children: daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Ed Newkirk of Centreville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry L. and Kathy Austin of Buchanan; daughter, Edith "Sissy" Austin of Buchanan; and son, Clay Austin of Buchanan. "Memaw" was the cherished grandmother to Catie Austin Brown and Stuart, Natalie Austin, Amanda Newkirk Downing and Edward, David Newkirk, Corey Austin, Ben Austin and Taylor, Cristen Austin, Forest Austin, Josh and Sarah Boblett. Betsy was also the very proud, "Great-Memaw", to eight great-grandchildren and one on the way, Jack, Ella, and Addie Brown; Augustus Downing, Gunner Austin, Eli Doss; Tatum and Silas Austin; Birdie, Ruby and Anne Marie Boblett. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, sister-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to Nyoka Jones and Jerry and Gloria Henson for their special care given to Mom. Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm Friday, July 13, 2018 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Cook, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Springwood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Botetourt Funeral Home, Buchanan.
