Bernhard Albert Volkmann

Bernhard Albert Volkmann, 80, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernhard Walter and Alice Marie Calame Volkmann. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Cold War; a professional musician with the American Federation of Musicians; and a retired Inspector with the New Jersey State Department of Transportation with over 25 years of service. He successfully fulfilled his lifelong dream of living in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Hedda "Cookie" Volkmann; his children and spouses, Annette and Rich Knielser of Berlin, NJ; Connie and Tim Hembree of Howell, NJ; Kathy and Bill Jackson of Franlinville, NJ; Lisa and David Orent of Lawrenceville, NJ and Mike and Michelle Volkmann of Reidsville, NC; and eleven grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held 12:30pm Sunday, April 6, 2014 in the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church.
