Allen Wayne "Pedro" Brooks, 68, of Buchanan, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the US Army, "The price of freedom is visible here". Along with his dad, he ran Buchanan Auto Parts for many years. He retired from Interstate Batteries with 20 years of service. Pedro enjoyed cooking, old cars, flowers, going to antique shops and museums, pulling jokes, but most of all he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Brooks; and mother-in-law, Berta Linkenhoker. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pat Brooks; children and spouses, Chasity and Ron Moore, Jr.; Melissa and Herb Allgayer, Jr.; Tracy and Roger Brooks; grandchildren, Cooper Moore, Ronnie Moore, III, Shayna Allgayer, and Blake Allgayer; mother, Elizabeth "Lib" Brooks; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam Brooks and Mike Seibel; Donna and Butch Schaffer; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Howard Linkenhoker; sister-in-law, Marsha and Danny Sanderson; brother-in-law, Don and Doris Linkenhoker; special nieces, Sarah and Jeremy Muncey; and Angie and Ed Lewis; caregiver, Joan Dudley; and constant pet companion, Maggie. A Celebration of Pedro's life will be held 11am, Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the Springwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Clingenpeel and Rev. Harold E. Cook officiating. It is his wish that all who attend, please come casual. Interment will follow in church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Springwood Baptist Church Food Pantry or the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
